Every day I work to bring jobs and economic security to Ohio and the 16^th District.  Today, our country faces the worst economic crisis since The Great Depression.  That is why in February, I supported the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  This legislation will act as a backstop to further job loss, give 95 percent of Americans an immediate tax cut, and invest quickly into the economy.

But while these investments in our national infrastructure are a good first step in restoring our great economy, I believe that more must be done.  In Congress I am working for fair trade policies that promote the growth of American businesses and create good-paying jobs to support families here in Ohio.

I believe that if we invest in new energy technologies that create jobs, provide resources to people seeking jobs and ensure that our children have the educational resources to compete globally, we will be able to overcome the challenges of this economic crisis and move our economy forward.
